What is: Firewall
A firewall is the device or software that controls traffic between your network and the internet, allowing what is safe and blocking the rest.
A modern (next-gen) firewall does much more than "open/close ports": it inspects traffic, blocks known threats, filters content and controls remote access (VPN).
Without a proper firewall and locked-down remote access, the network "door" stays open — one of the most common entry points in attacks.
