What is: vCISO (virtual CISO)

A vCISO is an external, experienced information security officer who takes on cybersecurity strategy, policies and oversight on a monthly basis, without a full-time hire.

Most SMEs do not need —and cannot afford— a full-time security executive, but they do need someone accountable. The vCISO fills exactly that gap.

It is especially useful for NIS2 compliance, answering customer security questionnaires, and when security has no clear owner.
